What is XML-Sitemap?

A Sitemap is an XML file that lists the URLs for a site. It allows webmasters to
include additional information about each URL: when it was last updated, how
often it changes, and how important it is in relation to other URLs of the site.

Why sitemap is important?

A sitemap tells Google which pages and files you think are important in your site,
and also provides valuable information about these files: for example, for pages,
when the page was last updated, how often the page is changed, and any alternate
language versions of a page.

Types of Sitemap

There are two types of sitemaps:
• HTML Sitemaps
• XML Sitemaps

Rules Of Sitemap

• A sitemap can contain up to 50,000 URLs
• Site map must not exceed 50MB uncompressed

XML Sitemaps are further divided into the following types:

• Link Sitemaps
• Image Sitemaps
• Video Sitemaps
• News Sitemaps
• Mobile Sitemaps

How to use sitemap checker in webtool ? 

Step 1: Login webtool account.
Step 2: Go to XML Sitemap.
Step 3: Insert the URL/sitemap.xml or give the proper path of sitemap.
Step 4: View the result .
Step 5: Download the result.
Note: Can check any type of sitemap. Just need to put proper sitemap path.
